Meanwhile under the surface, Doc, clutching the amulet, faces a pair of remote-controlled crocodiles while Renny and Monk battle a quartet of human foes. The Man of Bronze loses his breathing mask in the fight but he is able to rip the circuits out of one croc’s brain, killing it. A hastily fired speargun shaft from Monk kills the other one. Doc and his men rise to the surface to find a government official, Dr. A’zam, ordering their arrest for looting antiquities. Nearby, Anya smiles….
In Siberia near the Mongolian border, General Guyuk and his soldiers bring the spirit banner of Temujin to a meeting with their ally Popov, who is awaiting delivery of the Apis Bull to complete his sinister project….
Doc, Monk, and Renny are in jail, pondering their situation. The Russian seemed to be the woman abducted by the mummy in the museum (last issue). A band of Arabs enter the cell, demanding return of the tracking device they assume to be in Doc’s possession. Doc’s team holds off the assailants….

Doc asks A’zam for the return of their equipment—and the heads of the two dead crocodiles. In flight, Long Tom shows them the tracking device Anya left with him, an open invitation to follow her. But a hidden feature of the device allows Popov to listen in on the heroes’ conversation. Popov then tells the man in the iron lung (see last issue) about his plans to deal with this new complication. Meanwhile, Doc’s plane has caught up to Anya’s jet in Siberia, and Doc has discovered that the croc’s brains contain an unknown substance that make the cells nearly immortal. Their plane is fired on from the ground, Renny takes evasive action and the two missiles zoom by. Then they look out of the craft and spy something new—a pterodactyl in flight….
